Aspect Medical systems is powered by a vision; to help medical professionals deliver the best possible patient care by providing brain monitoring technologies that enhance clinical decision making.
Today, our BIS systems help confirm the level of consciousness of the anesthetized or sedated patient in a variety of clinical settings. Tomorrow, extensions of this advanced technology may bring greater understanding to the treatment of disease of the brain.
In November 2001, Aspect established a Neuroscience division to further leverage the company's new expertise, with the goal of developing technologies that can help detect and diagnose neuro-based diseases.
Aspect is investigating a wide range of brain-based disorders, including depression and Alzheimer's disease.
The Neuroscience division within Aspect is led by Philip Devlin, Vice President and General Manager of Neuroscience. Mr. Devlin helped spearhead the research and pioneered the initial applications for BIS monitoring.
Andrew F. Leuchter, M.D., Professor and Vice Chair, Department of Psychiatry and Biobehavioral Sciences, UCLA Neuropsychiatric Institute, David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, serves as Chair of Aspect's Neuroscience Scientific Advisory Board.
