 Congratulations to Charlie Forbes on being awarded the AACN’s Circle of Excellence Award for Value of Certification.To be considered for this award, recipients must be nominated by their peers. Prior to joining Aspect as an ICU Clinical Specialist, Charlie’s peers at Clarian Health Partners were pleased to nominate her for her outstanding contributions to the development and management of their certification course, the CCRN Review Course.
For Charlie, designing the course provided her with the wonderful opportunity to watch 35 nurses transform into high-speed CCRN certified nurses. “It has easily been the highlight of my career,” says Charlie. “Each of the nurses started out very skilled and knowledgeable, yet they all felt that obtaining CCRN certification was beyond their reach. It was clear to me from day one that each of them had exactly what it took to become certified.They were hard workers, they were exceptionally bright, they have immense compassion and hearts of gold. It then became my job to put together a program to help these nurses reach their potential.” Charlie attends the AACN/NTI Meeting each year because the meeting gets her excited about being a nurse and “reminds me that I am surrounded in my career by some of the most amazing professionals. ” For Charlie, the true value of the award extends well beyond the $500 honorarium and plaque she received, it’s the feeling of pride for having been recognized for her work. “I love being an ICU nurse because of what I do, and the people that I am able to work with. It is a privilege to be let into so many people’s lives and have the opportunity to help during what can be a very troublesome time for them.” |
