AACN/NTI Scholarship Winner Announced
Aspect Medical Systems is pleased to recognize
Cindy Newton of Memorial Hospital and Manor
in Bainbridge, Georgia as the winner of the
2002 NTI scholarship raffle. Aspect held a live
drawing at last year?s AACN/NTI meeting in
Atlanta to select a scholarship winner that
would receive $1,000 in funding to support educational
programs and meeting attendance at
future AACN/NTI meetings. ?I was so excited
to hear that I won the scholarship,? said Cindy.
?Resources are very tight in healthcare these
days, and the additional financial support from
the scholarship is tremendously valuable.?
Cindy developed an early fascination with
cardiac nursing when her mother underwent
open heart surgery at Mt. Sinai in 1966. Her
nursing career has since spanned 26 years. She is
currently an ICU Nurse Manager at Memorial
Hospital and Manor where she supervises 18
full time members, the Echo Department,
outpatient holter monitoring, and EEG studies.
Cindy makes it a point to attend the AACN/NTI
meeting at least every three years to renew her
commitment to nursing and seek new ways to
improve her ICU. ?The meeting keeps me
updated with current practices and trends and I
am able to network with peers and learn about
best practices in other facilities,? said Cindy.
At last year?s meeting Cindy also took the
opportunity to learn more about sedation monitoring
during one of Aspect?s in-booth CE
sessions. Along with enhancing her nursing skills
and knowledge,Cindy also enjoys the chance to
stay in touch with previous co-workers that she
sees at the NTI.
Aspect continues its support of AACN/NTI
education with raffles of two $500 gift
certificates this year in San Antonio. Meeting
participants who wish to enter the raffle can
sign up at booth number 1519. Good luck to
those who enter the raffle and congratulations
once again to Cindy!
